In the second quarter of this year, we will be adding two new BLM GROUP LT7 4 kW laser cutting systems. This machinery will replace our existing 1 kW and 3 kW equipment, for a total of three LT7 systems. With a standard platform of tube laser cutting equipment, we expect to increase production capacity and efficiency in our laser cutting area.
“This machine technology will allow us to stay ahead of customer demand for precision tube laser cutting services and to maintain the short lead times we are known for in the industry,” states Paul Krickeberg, President & CEO. Read the news release.
The LT7 operating software easily supports multiple operations. Features include weld seam detection, which helps to assure the best cut quality and meet the functionality or aesthetic needs of the part. An efficient centering cycle ensures consistency, and helps to reduce production time per part.
With a 3D cutting head, this tube laser system can deliver true, knife-edged bevels, copes or miters that may be needed for weld prep or other features required for the part specification.
Overall, a laser delivers a cleaner edge, reducing the need for deburring or other finishing techniques used to clean up parts after cutting, as with conventional machines.
Ideal shapes for the tube laser cutting system are rounds, flat-sided ovals, square and rectangular cutouts. Fish-mouth notches or copes are easily cut on a tube laser.
